1983 : "Laurea" cum laude, Faculty of Economics, University of Pavia (Italy). Dissertation on "M. Kalecki sulla dinamica dell'economia capitalistica: aspetti analitici e aspetti metodologici" (M. Kalecki on the dynamics of capitalist economies: analytical and methodological aspects).

1987 : M.Phil in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Politics, University of Cambridge (UK).

1996 : Ph.D. in Economics, Department of Economics, Loughborough University (UK). Dissertation on "The Making of Harrod's Dynamics".

2003 : "Habilitation" (venia docendi: Economics), Dept of Economics, University of Graz (Austria).


Research interests


History of economic thought, with particular regard to economic dynamics. Related fields: historiography of economic thought, dynamic analysis, editing of papers and correspondence.

Previous research: the dynamics of Michal Kalecki, Ragnar Frisch, and Richard M. Goodwin. The business cycle theories of Tugan-Baranowsky, Bouniatian, Mitchell. Harrod's dynamic economics, and related topics. Editing of Harrod's papers and correspondence. The early theories of crises of William Huskisson, Auguste Ott, Anthony Lawson, John Wade.

Current research: History of business cycle and crises theories. Editing of the documents and correspondence related to the League of Nations' inquiry on businss depressions, 1934-37. Economic dictionaries and e-lexicography. Metaphors and semantics of crises and business cycles.

1986/87: Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research (Swiss-Italian sub-section): grant towards the M.Phil degree in Cambridge.

1992/93: Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research (Swiss-Italian sub-section): grant for the research in the Harrod Papers in Ichikawa (Japan), the Meade Papers (London), Churchill Papers (Cambridge).

1994/97: Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research: grant supporting the research on The Making of Harrod's Dynamics .
